City description and overview
Linz Ost is one of the largest
cities in Austria and is situated on the banks of the river Danube. It is a
very old city, founded in 799 AD by the Romans. Johannes Kepler, who discovered
the third law of planetary motion used to live in this city. There are many
statues commemorating his successes in the city. A public University in the
locality is also named after him. Linz is one of the most important economic
centers in Austria owing to the steel and chemical factories located here. The
city is rich in its art and music cultures and is known for its art galleries
and concert halls. Perhaps the most well-known thing about
Linz in the music world would be the ‘Linz Symphony’, which Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart wrote in the city for a concert to be held there. Due to all these
things, Linz is often called as the ‘capital of music’. There is an airport
near this city which has direct connecting flights to Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and
many other international cities.
Weather and best time to travel
Linz has a humid continental
climate. There are no dry seasons since the rains are dispersed around the
year. There are many grasslands, forests and pastures around the city. The best
time to travel to Linz is probably the seasons of spring and autumn, since we
can witness the trees changing the colors of their leaves. You can also avail
the fun of a bike ride during the warm months of the year.
