Edsbyn is a small locality and the seat in the municipality of Ovanåker in the county of Gävleborg in Sweden. The municipality of Ovanåker has seven localities in total of which Edsbyn is the municipality seat. These localities include Alfta, Ovanåker, Runemo, Knåda, Viksjöfors and Roteberg apart from Edsbyn. The County of Gävleborg is located near the Baltic Sea coast of Sweden. This is a county that was established in the late 18th century after it was separated from the County of Västernorrland. The locality of Edsbyn is a very small one in terms of area. The area of this small locality of just 4.53 square kilometers. However, it is not at all a locality of low population. In fact, the population of such a small locality is as unbelievably high as 3985 residents. This results in a population density of almost 900 persons per square kilometers.

Weather and best time to travel

Edsbyn is a locality that is hugely popular because of the ski manufacturing industry that is located here. The name of the ski manufacturing industry is Edsbyverken. The locality is also famous for it also houses the very well known sports club Edsbyns IF. The best time of the year to visit the locality of Edsbyn would be during the month of March. The rest of the year, it has a harsh arctic climate, with the temperature dropping as low as 19 degrees below freezing point. The summers are quite mild. It is during March that the snowmobile season takes place. This is indeed worth a visit. The interested people use snowmobiles to wander off into forests, fish, race or just roam around for recreation.
