Filton, England

City description and overview

The town of Filton is a small one, situated in South Gloucestershire in England. It is situated on the northern suburbs of the city of Bristol. Filton is about 5 miles from the city centre of Bristol. In the heart of the town lies the Filton Church which is the main attraction of the town. It dates back to the 12th century. Further up north the town of Filton lay the towns named Bradley Stoke and Patchway. Even the name of the town Filton dates back as far as the ear 1187, when its name was derived from “feleþe” meaning hay and “tūn” meaning a farm or a field in Old English. Filton is a town that has a lot of open space, which you can avail of if you want to spend some peaceful time under the blue skies, drinking in the magic of Mother Nature. You can also spend a lot of time playing golf in the golf course.

Weather and best time to travel

You can reach Filton by air, as there is a large airfield in Filton, named Bristol-Filton. The Filton Park is also a major tourist spot, one that lies in the bare suburbs of the city of Bristol. The best time to visit the town of Filton would be during the summer months from April to June. The winters in England can be very cold and harsh and it snows a lot up here during the winters. The monsoon is also not suitable since it habitually pours down cats and dogs. The summers, on the other hand, are not only warm and comfortable, but sunny as well, making it the perfect weather for tourism.
