City description and overview

Westerstede Felde is the county seat of the Ammerland County, located in the northwestern part of Lower Saxony. It is located about 20 kilometers in the northwest of Oldenberg. The city of Westerstede Felde is a small city in terms of area, with an area of just 138.26 square kilometers. Halsbek is a district with a population of about 800, situated in Westerstede Felde that influences the agricultural facets of the city. The other district of Westerstede Felde, named as Karlshof houses the nature reserve Fintslandmoor. This nature reserve has a recreational area that has many ponds, lakes, woodlands, meadows and bog birch forests. The nearest railway station to the city of Westerstede Felde is the Westerstede Ocholt railway station that is located on the Oldenberg Route.
Among the major attraction of the city of Westerstede Felde is of course the Saint Peter’s Church. It is a Lutheran church that has a high-flying tower, a historical triptych, a crucifixion group, an individual bell tower and murals, stained glass altar windows. There is also the Castle of FienSolt, the Sacred Heart Church, the Townhouses, the railway station and the old Pastorei.

Westerstede Felde being situated in the countryside offers scenic landscapes and picturesque plains and huge nature reserve. Westerstede Felde is tourist friendly throughout the year as the weather here is pleasant throughout the year. It is neither too hot in the summers nor too cold in the winters. If you do decide to visit Westerstede Felde don’t forget to visit the beautiful parks, like the Park City Valley Pasture with the water tower, the Rhododendron Park and the Landscape Park of Fikensolt.
